Well, I was goin’ down the road one time,
and I needed to get to the other side,
and then some guy came up to me and said,
What? Are you chicken or somethin’?
I said, Hey! I’m not a chicken, I’m a rooster!
So I decided I could get
to the other side of the road.
So here I am, about to cross it.

This short came with the promise Coming soon sometime next year, but it never actually happened. Chicken was most likely my first original animation. And by that, I mean that I recall making some cartoons before then, including one for a sixth-grade book report on a fantasy novel I read (though I don’t think I ever showed it), but this is the first I can truly call my own.

I used a sprite-based animation program and then filmed the screen using a video camera. Chicken was shown as a preview trailer before a sci-fi film I made as a ninth grade extra credit assignment, in which I acted all of the parts. The introduction went something like this:

Romeo and Juliet have
just gotten married by
the Friar Lawrence.
But wait! What events lie
before our hero, Romeo,
as he finds a brewing brawl
between Mercutio and Tybalt
in the Public Place?
